Abuse

Abuse can also be called assault. When someone violates a weaker person we call it abuse. This means that they humiliate and hurt someone else. The person who abuses is infringing someone else’s boundaries and does not care what they think. An example of sex abuse (also called indecent assault) is rape, where an adult forces another adult to have sex. Youths might do the same to people of their own age. It is also sex assault if someone pressures another to take part in sex acts that they don’t want to.

Sex abuse also takes place if an adult forces or lures children into joining in on sex acts. This is illegal and must be reported to the child protection authorities or the police. The school nurse can help in this situation.
