Safe sex

The term safe sex (also called safer sex or protected sex) means sexual activity using methods to avoid the risk of being infected by sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). The term can also be used to mean sexual intercourse using a contraceptive to lower the possibility of pregnancy. Condoms give some but not total protection from infection. The condom only protects the area that is covered, and they can also tear. The only way you can be totally sure of not being infected is not to have sex with someone who might have an STD.
