Drag is an abbreviation of ‘dressed as a girl’ and means to use clothes and make-up to exaggerate and imitate the male or female expression of gender, in order to get attention and to entertain. Drag is something someone does, and is not about gender or sexual identity.
Dressing in drag is not the same as being a transgender person. The process of clothing oneself in other clothes is important in order for a transgender person to feel like a whole person, but this is not the case with drag.
